Garmin Fishfinder 1405
For the money, this fish finder works great. Installation is fairly simple. The lead wire could have a plug-in so as to be able to run through installed wire chases.

NOT a GPS! Good fishfinder4
This is a very good fishfinder and depth indicator. But despite the name....IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GPS!
This is just a fishfinder.

Needed portable..4
Depth finder is excellent, easy to use, fine picture; temperature reads about 3 degrees low. Neeeded a portable, unfortunately didn't know Garmin offered this option until I saw it in the instructions! With a little improvisation and some leftover parts from my last depth finder, I made it portable. Generally very pleased with it, certainly price is right.

Perfect5
Simply very good....I got on time, the product works properly, I sent to Brazil and works fine...thank you....

Garmin eTrex Venture HC Makes the Trip5
This was my first GPS purchase and i spent a lot of time being confused over the terminology and features of GPSr's. In researching a unit to buy, I also looked at what others who were not as confused as me were using. I finally settled on the Venture HC. I have to say I was not disappointed. I use my unit for geocaching and hiking. It took some time to learn to use the Venture partly because it was something new and the instructions were complicated and partly because I was new to GPS's and had to learn the terminology. Once I got the hang of using it, I was impressed with its accuracy. It carries light and is easy to operate.

Things I didn't like were that it always powers up with the screen dimmed. You must always brighten the screen to see it. I would have thought it would come on at a medium brightness. The unit also comes with a strap for carrying and the belt clip is optional. Since the Venture is designed for outdoor uses like hiking, etc., I would rather have had the belt clip as standard and the strap optional. Minor things I would like changed, but that's the only real problem I have with the Venture.

Terrific sensitivity, lots of features, typical (poor) user interface4
The etrex Venture HC is an outstanding GPS. I could tell from my first week of using it that the Venture was sensitive and could get a signal in some difficult environments. However, I was really surprised at its performance on a recent trip to Washington, DC. My previous experience with GPSs in commercial aircraft led me to expect that I would probably have to hold the unit against the bottom of a window at exactly the right angle to have a hope of getting a lock. In contrast, the Etrex Venture HC locked onto its location within two minutes while I was sitting in an aisle seat of a Boeing 717. I was delighted. The unit had no difficulty keeping its lock onto the satellites for the entire trip (until time to power down all electronic devices).

At a more practical level, I loaded the locations of the Washington Metro stations from a (free) POI database before the trip. That turned out to be quite useful despite the fact that I only have the factory-installed base map so far.

The USB cable works well with the GPS, my tablet PC, and Microsoft Streets and Trips. I use the GpsGate software ($12.95) to convert the proprietary Garmin protocol to the open NMEA protocol so that a complete array of free and commercial software will work with the Garmin.

My main criticism is that the user interface takes a while to learn. The push buttons are black with nearly-invisible black identification symbols. The rocker key is very sensitive and appears quite fragile (time will tell). The sensitivity of the rocker key leads to many inadvertent button presses. Finally, the menu system has a maze-like logic similar to Jorge Luis Borges' "Celestial Emporium of Benevolent Knowledge." That is, the user interface is no better and no worse than that of most consumer technology.

All in all I am very pleased with this device.

7200 is OK!!!4
So far - so good. I've hooked it up to the Aux input to my car, so the XM comes in nicely. Haven't used the Nav that much - but works (receives) well with suction cup windshield mount.

Recommended.

Great product, better than OE's in new cars5
The Garmin StreetPilot 7200 is is a super navigation system, it works great, the screen is bright enough to be seen in the bright California sun and the map and the text is plenty big enough for a 75 year old man to read while diving at 80 down the freeway. It has a cool big sticky-back base so that it can be mounted on your dashboard almost like a head-up display so your attention is not drawn away from the road. I had already mastered the system in my new Corvette so that learning how to operate the Garmin proficiently only took me about ten minutes. I bought it for my motorhome but I have been using it in my old van to check it out and I am delighted. One of the nicest things about it, that is not in the Corvette system, is that you can save your routes after you put them in. This makes planning a big vacation an in-the-house job done well before you leave. All of your proposed routes can be saved into the system ahead of time. I bought a Garmin because of the excellent service I got out of my old hand held GPS and I bought the "big-screen" so that I could read it better. Both were clearly the right decision. This is a first-class piece of gear and I recommend it highly.

Garmin StreetPilot 7200 - great navigator if you need large screen5
After having the wife preview many navigation systems, I almost bought a Cobra as the neighbors had one and the wife liked the size of it compared to the normal 3.5" screens and slightly larger 4.3" ones. However, after a little research, I found about the 7" screen 7200 series (along with the bean bag it sets in ) to be the best deal for our travels in her minivan. I have a small SUV and have used it in it, but it takes up a lot of window space, so one should be careful of the vehicle they choose to use this large system in. It is pretty user friendly and easily sets up for use. My mom borrowed and liked it so much that she bought one too.

Pros: large screen, easy set up
Cons: price (pay for what you get though), large (good for the minivan or truck, but would be cautious of using in a vehicle with a small front window)

Cool gadget4
free MSN subscription is one of the reasons to get it....Fast unit, good battery life....Maps are easy to see, and are better than TomTom....Unit is a tad bulky comprared to Pocket PC, but it's not meant to be carried around....

GREAT Garmin StreetPilot c580 GPS5
All I can say is that Amazon had the best price for this GPS and if you are looking for a GPS that will do a great job this is it....I found operating the GPS was easy and the menu selections was more than I needed but nice to have in the event I decided to use these options in the future. MSN Direct is okay however you must be in an area that has the service available before using this feature. Other than that the GPS device is great.

nice but shody reception3
It is easy to function but it took me a week to figure out why i wasn't getting reception. You might have to put it out in the open for about 5 min, away from trees and tall buildings before it gains reception. That's a pain when i want to leave and go somewhere. As well the MSN reception is poor so you may not be able to always get traffic, gas prices, movie times, and weather.

I hope to read up more on my GPS when i have more time. Maybe there's trouble shooting for the MSN feature.

Garmim Nuvi GPS :Customer Reviews

Great GPS if you need Europe - just update5
The 670 is the same as the 660 except that it includes the Europe maps. If you want Europe it is cheaper to buy the 670. My unit came with older versions of both North America and Europe. When I registered on the Garmin website to get both updates, it told me I could only get one for free and would have to pay for the other. I called tech support and complained, since I already paid the premium for the 670 and therefore expect to have fully up-to-date maps of both North America and Europe. Garmin said that although this is their policy, they will gladly provide both updates for free. I downloaded the North America update, and they sent me the DVD for Europe at no charge. I suggest anyone buying this unit do the same.

Garmin's Tech support sucks, overpriced outdated maps1
this 670 had a deffective battery, which was discovered the second time we used it. No support over the weekend, so 4 days of the trip required maps only, purchased at a filling station, WORTHLESS. Then a 2 hour hold and 30 minutes with the tech to get a Return Authorization. I must pay to return a new DOA $500 GPS, and await a repair or replacement. Secondly I purchased this unit because of the pre-loaded European Maps, HOWEVER the loaded maps are outdated but new ones will be sent to me AT NO CHARGE in 4 to 6 weeks. Third the window mount is pitiful, will not hold and the unit constantly fall off, luckily into my wife's hands. One day it will hit something and then the screen will break and that is the end. Fourth cannot change destination while using. You must exit GPS add address and then re-boot. Krazy and very bad!!!Garmin must be just too good at selling, because there is absolutely no company in today's fast paced World that will survive with this lack of speedy resolution to a NEW & DOA product failure. Garmin charges for everything. The city guides installed are minimal and you must purchase detailed ones AT ADDITIONAL COST. The GPS chip costs about $1 the 670 had 2 GB of internal memory $5 so what are the outdated maps and minimal city guides really worth. I have used a co-pilot with mu Sony laptop for years great European maps detailed city etc. Garmin is now my very expensive and worthless dash decoration.

Not Bad4
I'm no expert on GPS, but I like the system so far. I just need to learn how to use the darn thing. One thing I don't like is not being able to just push a button to remember a location. The Garmin may have such an option, but I haven't figured it out yet if it does. The 4.3 screen is big enough and the volume is adequate enough to be heard under most driving conditions. I especially like the ability to enter coordinates. Since I live in Germany and if I don't know an address, or I can't spell it correctly, I go on google earth and find what I want and then input the coordinates and it takes me directly there.

Great Garmin!!!5
I purchased the Garmin 760 for myself, after buying one for my son for Christmas. It has every featurer I wanted plus some that I don't use. I have used it on trips and my only complaint is that the fastest route feature does not an option for staying on Interstate highways. However when I turn onto an Interstate it quickly recalculates. I would recommend this product over the less expensive ones. 'You get what you pay for'.

User Friendly5
Very user friendly, and very good display.
The update down load took forever, about 5 hours, I think it would be faster and easier to pay $10.00 for the cd, hopeing it would be faster and easier.

Garmin 760 Nuvi - good product, not perfect4
Have been using this unit for about a month or so.

Pros:
1. Easy to use right away. A very intuitive product.
2. Suction cup mount is perfect as is - do not believe reviews that say otherwise.
3. Bluetooth connectivity setup was easy and works well. I don't think my phone was listed as one supported by this unit.
4. Spoken street names and turn indications helpful.
5. Price on Amazon when I purchased ($440) was very competitive.
6. Is quick to realize when you deviate from a route and doesn't pester you to turn around. It simply says "recalculating" and then shows you a revised route based on where you are now driving.
7. Interface for entering addresses works well.
8. You can load a route you create online with Mapquest. Sometimes the map comes over exactly the way you wanted, other times not so good.
9. You can add user created POI's to the unit. Search around on the web for POI libraries; they are there and it is not that difficult to add them to your unit.

Cons:
1. No icons for points of interest (POI). The only time you can find them on this unit is when you switch to the 2 dimension mode and zoom way in. Don't get me wrong, the points of interest (about 6 million - as many as any other unit on the market based on what I've read) are in there, just not with icons.
2. Maps have plenty of inaccuracies although this is not Garmin's fault as they get their info from one of the two map providers
3. No owner's manual in the box. Not a problem, you just have to download it from their site (66 pages).
4. In city driving, it's estimation of how long it will take to reach your destination is consistently short by about 5 minutes. So, if it tells me I am going to arrive at 10am, I know that most likely it will be 10:05am. In contrast, when there is highway driving involved in the trip, the unit is almost always right on within a minute or so. The trips I am talking about are 45 minutes or less.

I would buy this again.

This feature lets users avoid traffic by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route. This traffic awareness is made possible via the new Garmin GTM 10 FM TMC receiver that connects to selected Garmin street navigation products.
